"Drishyam 3" has been climbing Google Trends in India all week, and today it peaks: Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and reportedly final Hindi film in the franchise, is in theatres from Friday 2 October 2026. The Gandhi Jayanti holiday gives it a big opening-day audience. Here is what you need to know before you book, with no spoilers for the new film.
What the film is
Drishyam: The Conclusion is a Hindi crime thriller directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also directed Drishyam 2 in 2022. It is the sequel to Drishyam (2015) and Drishyam 2, and is billed as the closing chapter of Vijay Salgaonkar's story. The Hindi films are adaptations of the Malayalam Drishyam series starring Mohanlal, which is also getting a third instalment.
Cast
- Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, the cable operator whose family has been hiding a crime for more than a decade.
- Jaideep Ahlawat, the main new addition, in a role that early viewers describe as the film's central antagonist.
- Tabu, returning as IG Meera Deshmukh.
- Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkar, with Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav as the daughters.
- Rajat Kapoor and Prakash Raj also return.
The story so far, spoiler-free for part three
In Drishyam, Vijay's family is pulled into a crime involving the son of a senior police officer, and Vijay uses what he has learnt from a lifetime of watching films to build an alibi so complete that the police cannot break it. In Drishyam 2, set seven years later, a new investigation reopens the case and the family's cover is tested again. Both films end with Vijay apparently one step ahead. The Conclusion picks up the threads those endings left hanging, which is why "Drishyam 2 recap" has been trending alongside the new film. If you have not seen the first two, both are available on streaming platforms in India and are worth watching in order.
What early reviews say
Early reactions from the first shows and from trade critics have been largely positive. The points that come up repeatedly:
- The face-off between Devgn and Ahlawat is the highlight for most reviewers.
- The interval sequence and the final half-hour are being singled out as the strongest parts of the film.
- Trade analyst Taran Adarsh gave it 4.5 stars and called it the best film of the franchise.
- Some viewers who know the Malayalam films find parts of the plot predictable by comparison.
As with any opening day, treat the first wave of reactions as early signals rather than the final verdict. Fuller reviews will settle over the weekend.
Box office: the opening weekend so far
The opening was big. Trade trackers put day one, Gandhi Jayanti, at roughly Rs 62 to 67 crore net in India depending on the tracker, the second-biggest Hindi opening of 2026. Day two held well at about Rs 52 crore, a drop of around 15 percent, which is a healthy sign for a thriller relying on word of mouth. Advance bookings had pointed this way, with more than 1.8 lakh tickets sold in the three national multiplex chains before release. Figures for the full weekend will settle on Monday, and this page will be updated.
When will Drishyam 3 come to OTT?
Nothing has been announced. Big Hindi films typically reach streaming about eight weeks after their theatrical release, so a late-November or December window would fit the usual pattern, but that is an estimate, not a date.
