Why Is the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Trending? Leaked Specs, Expected Price and Release Date

Samsung's next Ultra is not due for months, yet "Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra" is one of the fastest-rising searches in India this week. The trigger is a cluster of pricing and specification leaks that landed within a few days of each other. If you are trying to work out whether to wait for the S27 Ultra or buy an S26 Ultra now, this is what is known, what is rumoured and what is simply guesswork.

What the Galaxy S27 Ultra is

The S27 Ultra would be the top model in Samsung's 2027 Galaxy S line, succeeding the S26 Ultra. The Ultra is the phone that carries the S Pen, the largest display, the biggest battery and the most capable camera system in the range, and it is the one Samsung positions against the iPhone Pro Max.

Why it is trending now

Three things happened at once. First, pricing leaks for the whole S27 line appeared, suggesting higher prices for the Ultra tiers. Second, renders and component leaks pointed to a visible design change on the back. Third, a battery rumour that sounded too good to ignore, a 7,000mAh cell, started circulating. Put together, those gave tech sites a lot to write about, and search interest followed.

The leaked specifications

Nothing below is confirmed by Samsung. These are the figures that recur across the more reliable leak sources:

  • Display: 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, with peak brightness reported at around 3,000 nits.
  • Processor: Qualcomm's next flagship chip, referred to in leaks as Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, possibly on a 2nm process. Samsung often ships its own Exynos chip in some regions, so the chip could vary by market.
  • Camera: a 200MP main sensor, which Samsung has used on Ultras since the S23, with the camera module reportedly moving to a horizontal bar design.
  • Battery: a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery is the headline rumour. If true it would be a large jump from the 5,000mAh cells Samsung has used for years. Silicon-carbon chemistry allows more capacity in the same space, and several Chinese brands already ship phones above 6,000mAh.
  • Charging: up to 65W wired, up from 45W.

The battery figure deserves the most caution. Samsung has been conservative on battery capacity for a long time, and a 40 percent jump in one generation would be out of character. It is possible, but it is the rumour most likely to be revised.

Expected price

In the US, leaks point to a starting price of about $1,399 for the base Ultra, roughly $100 more than the previous generation, with the 1TB model reportedly approaching $2,000.

For India, early estimates put the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant somewhere between Rs 1,41,999 and Rs 1,46,999. Indian pricing depends on the exchange rate at launch and on Samsung's bank-offer strategy, so the effective price after launch offers is usually lower than the sticker price for the first few weeks.

Expected release date

Samsung has launched its Galaxy S flagships at a Galaxy Unpacked event in January or February for several years running. Based on that pattern, the S27 series is expected to be announced in early February 2027, with sales starting two to three weeks later. Samsung has not announced a date.

S27 Ultra or S26 Ultra: should you wait?

If you need a phone now, the S26 Ultra is a known quantity and its price will fall further once the S27 is announced. If you can wait four to five months and the battery rumour matters to you, waiting makes sense, but go in expecting the final specification to be more modest than the leaks.

Frequently asked questions

When will the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra launch?

Samsung has not said. Based on past Galaxy Unpacked timing, early February 2027 is the most likely window.

What will the Galaxy S27 Ultra cost in India?

Leaks suggest roughly Rs 1.42 to 1.47 lakh for the 12GB/256GB model. Official Indian pricing will only be known at launch.

Will the S27 Ultra have a 7,000mAh battery?

That is the rumour. It would be a very large increase on the 5,000mAh Samsung has used, so treat it as unconfirmed until Samsung announces the phone.

Will the S27 Ultra still have the S Pen?

Leaks do not suggest its removal, and the S Pen has been a defining Ultra feature since the Note line was folded into the S series.

Is anything about the S27 Ultra confirmed?

No. Everything in circulation comes from supply-chain leaks, certification filings and tipsters. Samsung's own confirmation will come at Unpacked.
